Hie guys!
I am sure we can gather a lot knowledge from rural communities in Southern Africa where there are various kinds of grassroots indicators of Climate Change. If you sit down and talk to rural people, they can point you to the behavior of various insects, trees and animals as indicating that Climate is Changing with detrimental effects. This knowledge has been accumulated over many years and can be very useful for conventional environmental research for development. Perhaps we need to recognise indigenous knowledge as authentic, democratic science. I would be happy to hear of activities in Zimbabwe or Southern Africa geared to harnessing indigenous climate knowledge to modern research.
Regards,
Charles
